I used to sell cannabis for a living

Long before these new cannabis dispensaries started offering delivery, I was doing it from my van.

This was almost 20 years ago, so there were no legal dispensaries at that point in time.

I was calling myself an independent operator, who was trying to treat it as a job and save up currency for my new family by selling weed. Previous to this I had just sold from my apartment, but when my best girl got knocked up I had to completely change my company model. I didn’t mind storing pounds of quality cannabis in the house, even though I couldn’t have random people coming in and out at all hours to purchase it. The main concern with potheads isn’t that they beginning trouble, but that they just want to smoke their cannabis immediately, and then sit around and talk. I like doing that too sometimes, but only when I am with my friends, I treat my cannabis company like a business, without as much socialization, but for this reason, I found I enjoyed my new company model a great deal more – I would make cannabis deliveries, collect the money, and go without having to make a lot of small talk. By delivering my cannabis instead of having the client come to me, my weekly sales went up and so did my free time! I was no longer obligated to share bowls of cannabis with the clients as a social nicety, I could hit the road and go to the next sale, then eventually I got myself out of the marijuana biz entirely, but for numerous years the deliveries paid my bills and allowed me to supply for my new wife and child.
